San Clemente Volleyball Club was started by San Clemente High School Alumni, Tom Beard and Jennifer Adams Beard. “We wanted to create an opportunity for kids to get exposure to the sport of volleyball without huge financial and time commitments. We allow some flexibility with the younger age groups, so that kids can continue to be multi-sport athletes.” At the more competitive levels, Tom is able to share his expertise that contributed to his many successes, including High School and Collegiate All American and six years of professional volleyball in Europe."
We are proud to give back to a community and a sport that has given so much to us over the years”. In addition to teaching fundamental skills and advanced volleyball strategies, San Clemente Volleyball Club emphasizes personal development and team participation. SCVBC is more than just another volleyball club. We aim to build character. Currently in the design phase, “SCVBC gives-back”, is a program that will allow players to participate in charity organizations. In addition to building team spirit, this program will give kids the chance to positively impact the lives of others.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Our objective is to create a positive atmosphere where athletes can experience the personal satisfacation and growth that comes from working towards a goal and overcoming challenges both individually and as a group in the context of a fun team sport.
CLUB PHILOSOPHY:
Volleyball is a fun sport and we strive to make practices and training challenging but fun. We think sports should be an outlet that helps kids manage the stress of daily life. We want them to grow as individual athletes and team members.
We believe a team sport can have a positive impact on an athletes character and should reinforce the respect of fair play, as well as the importance of family and school. Life is competitive and we want to teach kids how to win without sacrificing their personal integrity and hopefully how to enjoy the process instead of fearing it.
